From Theory to Practice: DIPOVIL Concrete Training 2024 Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design Study Program

The rapid development of infrastructure in Indonesia has encouraged the use of concrete in Indonesia. This is because concrete has high compressive strength. In order to obtain high concrete compressive strength, proper planning is needed to determine the ratio of concrete components, which is commonly called job mix design.

By conducting job mix design, it can be seen whether the quality of the concrete material has met the specifications of the concrete components. DIPOVIL, a research bureau in the Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design Study Program, Vocational School, Diponegoro University, has developed an activity in the form of “Concrete Training,” which is carried out by the Construction Division. This activity is attended by active students of the Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design Study Program and the Internal Management of the Diploma Civil and Architecture Research Bureau (DIPOVIL). This training activity is divided into several stages, starting from providing material related to job mix design, which is intended to design and select concrete mixture materials by considering the ratio of each concrete component material, which is continued with the implementation of concrete making, up to the implementation of concrete compressive strength testing. The concrete training activity with the theme “High Strength and Environmentally Friendly Concrete Innovation with Coffee Grounds as a Mixing Material” aims to improve and develop students’ creativity in making job mix designs that have high compressive strength and attract students’ interest in participating in competitions in the concrete field. The criteria for the success of this concrete-making training are that participants can understand the procedure for making concrete job mix designs, can plan the right mix design, and have high concrete compressive strength.
