Diponegoro University Vocational School (UNDIP) has celebrated its 8th Anniversary with a very relevant and important theme, namely “Vocational Education for Sustainable Food Security.” In the event held on November 28, 2024, various activities took place to strengthen the institution’s commitment to supporting food security in Indonesia through quality vocational education. This event was opened directly by Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Sc., Rector of Diponegoro University, who delivered an opening speech regarding the strategic role of vocational education in supporting downstream innovation in various sectors. In this series of dies natalis, there was also a resource person as a keynote speaker at this event, namely Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nur, DEA., Professor of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics UNDIP, who provided a perspective related to innovation in vocational education to answer the challenges of food security in the future.

Food security is an increasingly important global issue amidst climate change, population growth, and increasing food needs. Vocational education must be alert in preparing skilled workers who can contribute to the agricultural and food sectors. Through this Dies Natalis, UNDIP Vocational School seeks to educate and inspire the academic community and the community by providing a sharing session that presents expert speakers in their respective fields, such as Prof. Dr. Ir. Budiyono, M.Sc. (Dean of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University), Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Herman Saputro, S.Pd., M.Pd., M.T. (Dean of the Vocational School of Sebelas Maret University), and Prof. Dr. Ing. Agus Maryono, IPM, ASEAN.Eng. (Dean of the Vocational School of Gadjah Mada University).

This Dies Natalis event is also increasingly interesting when presenting an alum session, which will be a valuable moment to remember the journey and contributions of graduates. This alum session also invited Dr. Saiful Bahri, SE, MM, CRGP (Director of Currency and Security Solution Peruri) and Mada Ayu Habsari (Chairman of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI)). In this session, alums will share their experiences, challenges, and successes after college. This discussion aims to inspire the current generation of students and strengthen the network between alums and alma mater in a joint effort to build a better future.

By holding the 8th Anniversary of the Vocational School of Diponegoro University and this inspiring scientific oration, it is hoped that it can foster a spirit of collaboration between academics, alums, and industry and create innovations that support sustainable food security. This event is the first step to inspiring a new generation to face future challenges and contribute significantly to society.
