Road Pavement

A road pavement is a part of the road that is paved with a certain layer of construction, which has a certain thickness, strength and stiffness, as well as stability in order to be able to safely distribute traffic loads on it to the subgrade. Road pavement is a layer of pavement that is located between the subgrade layer and the wheels of the vehicle, which functions to provide services to transportation facilities, and during its service life it is hoped that significant damage will not occur. In order for the pavement to be in accordance with the expected quality, knowledge of the properties, procurement and processing of road pavement constituents is needed (Silvia Sukirman, 2003).

Practical Pavement D-IV Civil Infrastructure Engineering and Architectural Design of the Undip Vocational School includes:

Asphalt Penetration

This examination is intended to determine the penetration of hard or soft bitumen (solid or semi solid) by inserting a penetration needle of a certain size, load and time into the bitumen at a certain temperature. The results of this test can then be used in terms of quality control of asphalt or tar for road construction, improvement or maintenance purposes.

Ductility

The ductility of bituminous materials is one of the practicum contained in the Highway Pavement Practicum. This check is intended to measure the longest distance that can be drawn between two molds containing hard bitumen before breaking, at a certain temperature and tensile speed.

Sieve Analysis of Coarse and Fine Aggregates

This practicum provides the ability for students to be able to determine aggregate gradations with semilogarithmic graphs. This examination is intended to determine the grain division (gradation) of fine and coarse aggregates using a sieve.
