The laboratory is an academic support in an educational institution, in the form of a closed or open room, permanent or mobile, managed systematically for testing, calibration, and/or production activities on a limited scale, using equipment and materials based on scientific methods.
The existence of a laboratory is very important in determining the academic success of laboratory assistants and students. For this reason, laboratory assistants should have adequate hard and soft skills.
The main task of the laboratory assistant is to manage the laboratory through a series of laboratory activity design activities, operation of equipment and use of materials, maintenance/maintenance of equipment and materials.

In order to improve the competence and professionalism of the Education Laboratory of Diponegoro University, in collaboration with INDO ASIA, the International Laboratory Technician Training and Certification of 2022 was held. This activity lasted for two days, followed by an assessment and laboratory visit. The activity on the first day contained several material debriefings such as the application of 5S (Sort, Systematic Arrangement, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), the application of archive management, then continued with laboratory visits to each participant. while the activities on the second day include the implementation of occupational health and safety, the implementation of calibration and maintenance management, explanations of laboratory assessments, technical portfolio collection. The activity on the second day was closed by holding a posttest and also distributing the training certificate.
